If you seriously want to cut or decrease the energy bill that you have to pay for each month and you seriously want to participate to improve eco-friendly technology and prevent the global warming progress then solar panels are one of the best eco-friendly technologies in these days. Today, it is not too difficult to find them…, even we can find and purchase them in the DIY stores, including B & Q (no longer just the domain of specialist & specific retailers)! With the proper installation, they can work more efficient and friendlier to the environment. What you should know first before making deal and installing solar panels for your home so thus you will get the best one that can work properly and efficiently? Here are pieces of helpful information ‘simple buying guide’ so that you will find and completely understand about the most efficient types of solar panels for your home before making deal.

What you should consider before installing solar technology?

One important point before deciding to install solar technology is by making ensure first that the building (your home) is as energy efficient as it can be! There are some options to improve the energy efficient of a building, like by deciding to install double glazing, proper solid or cavity wall insulation, loft insulation for the roof, using the newest efficient technology of boiler, etc. These options are so helpful to increase the efficiency performance of a building, particularly if you seriously want to cut or push down the high energy bill that can drain your pocket drastically for each month. You can also find other renewable technologies that are most suitable to improve the energy efficient of your home more optimally by visiting independent sources like EST sites so thus you will find and get the correct information. This idea is also useful to make sure you will get and install the correct solar panel product for your home, because there are some cases that some salesmen of solar panel products are mis-selling.

Understanding types of solar panels that are most suitable for your home!

Based on how to capture the energy of the sunlight, solar panels are divided into two major categories that are passive and active!

Passive solar concepts

When talking about passive types then designing & redesigning are so important to capture and explore the sunlight energy so that your home will be optimal to make the most of the sun. An instance of simple idea that can be so useful to make the most of the sun is by considering using more insulation to the roof or adding an extra south-facing window so that the sun’s heat will be better to be captured. To get the better result, it is better to consider passive elements when the building is being major refurbishment or being built.

Active solar technologies

Mostly they involve installing and setting a solar collector, particularly like a panel in order to collect and gather the energy of the sun’s heat. Two popular types of active solar panels are PV panels (photovoltaic) and solar water heating. Both may look similar but they are actually quite different!

Solar photovoltaic panels

They are relatively more expensive and usually can be purchased around £11,900-£12,000 for an average system (depending on the type and the size of the system), but fortunately generous financial support is now available and to find more about pieces of helpful information about the feed-in tariff visit this site. And generally, the following are some helpful simple tips to find, buy & get the best and the most efficient solar photovoltaic that can work efficiently in long term for your home, so you will get the best deal:

1. Is your home suitable for installing solar PV panels? How do you know that? Well, there are some issues to consider and check from your house. PV system will work at its best performance & its best power output if there is available a mainly south-facing roof with no shade or little shade, and there is no plan to move house anytime soon. A south-east or south-west-facing roof is also not too bad idea but the system will get less power out. Don’t miss also to check & consider the robustness & age of the roof of your home because PV panels are usually heavy (not light).

2. How about the size? It depends on the amount of the electricity that you need and the space available in the roof of your home. Avoid purchasing and installing over size (too large) system as you cannot meet one hundred percent of your requirement with solar PV. Make sure that surveyor of the company for the installation will completely understand about the amount of your electricity use! So you get the system that is sized correctly.

3. How to find and make a deal with a reputable and credible installation company? One thing that must be concerned is about the MCS certification, so make sure to choose installer that is MCS-certified. Perhaps here is helpful link for you about this issue.

4. And you should know that there are also some companies that use and adopt pressure-selling techniques like a large on-the spot discounts. You can report such firms by contacting ‘Real Assurance Scheme’.

5. Don’t miss to make sure that the installation is finished properly, especially for the panel installation! Ensure you don’t end up with panels overhanging the house’s roof. The panels should be safe from the risk of wind blowing, therefore there should be available at least ten centimeters between the house’s roof edge & the last panel, which also helpful for ease of access.

6. Make sure the surveyors will do the following; (a) make & create written notes of all data, especially the measurements of the roof for the installation of solar panels, (b) check the condition of the roof either the outside or inside, (c) they usually use the proper access tools & equipment to analyze the quality of the roof (especially its strength), (d) record and find potential condition of shade that can disturb how much the solar energy will be gathered, (e) measure the angle of the house’s roof and learn the loft of the house, (f) consider and check your metering & consumer unit / fuse box, (g) examine any main electrical appliances, (h) after they look around the house then they will discuss with you about where the ideal location to install and place the equipment and cables, (i) and ask to your surveyor about an in-depth quote like terms & conditions of warranties, pieces of information about module/ panel, details of scaffolding costs & inverter, the rate and percentage of savings and return, etc!

Solar water heating panels

They are familiar known as solar thermal that use panels fitted in the roof in order to gather & collect the sun’s energy that eventually will be used to heat water. And fortunately, households that have solar water heating panels (from Oct 2012) are qualified to receive RHI (Government’s Renewable Heat Incentive scheme). RHI will guarantee regular tariff payments for twenty years, depending on the amount of renewable energy that can be generated.

And the following are pieces of helpful information when you want to install and get the best solar water heating panels for your home:

1. Prioritize choosing a reputable solar company! Once again, consider only companies that are MCS-certified.

2. Before deciding to install solar water heating system, it is much better to consider first about the costs and savings. Typically, installation of solar water heating panels will spend around £2,999 to 4,999! And will be potential to save money around £50-£60 for every year on the energy bills. If you use an electric heating unit, you may get bigger savings. Consider also about the feed-in tariff (RHI) from Oct 2012.

3. Consider the location for the installation! Choose the right location so that the system will capture the sun’s energy optimally. In order to get the maximum efficiency, it is better to choose a south-facing roof at a 30 degree angle to put and place the solar panels. Make sure the location for the installation of the panels is far away from the potential risk of shade, either from chimneys, building, or trees. And don’t forget to make sure all panels are not too difficult for access because panels will need regular maintenance.

4. Perhaps you require applying for planning permission for solar panels. In order to get the correct information, you can contact your local council. For this issue, here is helpful link for you. In addition, there are also three additional major components to install solar water heating system that are the cylinder to gather hot water temporarily, pipe-work, and thermostat. Moreover some combi boilers that support for pre-heated water can be combined with solar water heating system but others (combi boilers that don’t accept pre-heated water) cannot be combined.

Before discussing about the typically costs of radiant heater, it is better to understand first about any differences of equipment costs between radiant heating and forced-air furnace! There are several parameters that can influence the costs for the installation. Generally, the average installation of forced-air system can be ten to twenty five percent more affordable than the average installation of radiant heating system, because radiant heat systems need more labor intensive to attach and install the radiant floor heating system. But in few cases, the installation costs of forced-air-furnace can be slightly more expensive due to sophisticated electrically zoning controls & equipments for more additional features.

Although commonly the installation costs of radiant heater are more expensive, but they promise more affordable costs of operation and even less care (lower cost for the maintenance)! So their high up-front cost will pay back itself on more efficient on heating and providing more comfort heating without resulting irritants or dusts (great value for anyone who suffers from allergies). We don’t have to worry to the maintenance costs for air filter, fans, bearings, belts, and so one because radiant heating systems don’t involve these components to work; therefore they need less care for the maintenance (less cost for operating). Overall, if you seriously want to have a good investment in long term, then they are not too bad choice that you should concern & prioritize on your first list.

Typical costs of radiant heating systems

Once again, there are a lot of factors that can influence the radiant heating costs (especially the size and the number of separate zoned areas), but mostly radiant heaters will typically cost around $12-$6 /square foot to install. And the initial cost per square foot for smaller projects is usually relatively higher than larger projects! Each system is usually involved different requirements that will effect and influence the high or low cost.

Well…What else you should know for the typical cost of radiant heaters:

There may be only a few hundred of dollars for the cost difference between installing 200,000 BTU (purposed for a large house) and installing 100,000 BTU (purposed for a small house).

(For less than a 1000 sq-ft), the cost for installing the heat-source part can be minimized by also using a water heater (relatively easier to install than hydronic boiler with more affordable in up-front cost).

Mostly, radiant panel systems are designed with closed-loop model in order to extend the longevity! Therefore, if the used water heater is designed without a heat exchanger than it should be dedicated and purposed to the radiant system. A stainless copper or steel must be utilized if the water heater purposed for domestic water heating in order to separate properly the two systems.

The cost can be higher if you choose to use a boiler, but it will be more powerful enough to give faster response, outlast a water heating unit, more efficiency on heating, and less standby loss! Therefore this option is usually preferred.

As well we know, the big problem when using a conventional water heater (with storage-hot water tank) is the heat loses. Therefore, if you choose to use water heater, make sure to choose a high-quality storage-tank! The quality is usually rated by R-insulation, for more efficient choose the tank with at least R-16 insulation so thus the standby loss can be minimized.

Why the up-front cost is higher?

In a few cases, this statement is wrong! But generally, the initial costs for installing radiant heat systems are more expensive (several thousand of dollars more) than the typical costs of forced-air systems! This higher cost due to the increased labor costs! Radiant heating system usually will require tubing circuits installed throughout the house floor which around 18-6 inches on center sealed & covered by concrete. Almost all tubing is more purposed to maintain & provide the floor temperature’s evenness instead of to heat the structure! Furthermore, the additional installations of controls, plumbing & other equipments are required for a more specific operation for boiler systems.

On the other hand, forced-air systems usually only need several ducts for the connections of vent and do not need specific system operation. Although the initial costs for the installation is more expensive but radiant heaters will be better value than forced-air systems in long run!

3 Important checklists on installing and using radiant heaters

They are claimed to work more efficient (around 50-25 percent more efficient for cost of operation than traditional forced-air heating systems), and this statement only can be realized if the system is designed and installed properly!

The heat losses and structure of the system are two major factors that will determine low or high energy bill that we have to pay for each month of heating season. These two factors can be controlled by making ensure that all components are still eligible to work and there are no poor water circulation and poor performance of boiler (poor water pressure). Therefore, it’s so recommended to hire a professional to inspect the existing system and analyze any potential improper issues & problems, and correct them to back to normal again!

And always keep in mind, don’t be fooled on only focusing the lower cost without considering and analyzing the guarantees (including follow-up service), quality of materials, design and labor!

Infrared tube heaters radiant are increasingly popular day by day, because of several reasons! Some of those reasons or advantages that we can get when using infrared radiant heaters are quick performance to heat directly the object, available for more design choices, consume less energy to work (therefore we can choose them for one of the best options of eco-friendly heating technology and will be helpful enough to keep the utility bill low), more comfortable on heating (there are less dusts and dirt when working, therefore we can use them for asthma medication & also welcome idea for anyone who suffers from allergies), less care for the maintenance, noiseless when running and so on!

How do infrared tube heaters radiant work?

There are a lot of appliances that use radiant heating technology. It can be used for industrial, commercial and residential heating. Basically, infrared tube heaters radiant will heat the space in the same method of the directly heating of the sunlight on heating the surface of the earth. Once the earth’s surface heated and gets warm, the heat energy will be released to the surrounding area (this process involves the heat convection distribution principle). Once again, the radiant tube infrared heating units work in the closely similar way! The heat will be transferred directly to heat the objects (people, floor, furniture, etc) then the heat will be emitted back from the object to heat the surrounding air by the process of convection principle!

With the directly heating method, radiant tube heaters will be powerful enough to heat the human body (object) more quickly and even the heat energy can be directed to heat a specific object that you want to heat more specifically. So, the object will get warm first without needing to heat the entire air in the room. This is the key of their more efficient performance. The directly heating is also familiar to be used for heating outdoor areas, like patio.

How about the advantages?

Like mentioned before, there are a lot of benefits when using infrared tube heaters radiant! They work more efficient with their directly heating performance which the heat is directly directed to the objects (will promise lower utility bills that we must pay for each month of heating season), relatively more noiseless (particularly if compared to conventional air-forced systems), friendly to the environment, minimal maintenance (lower cost for maintenance), reliable, etc. Unlike radiant floor heating, they (especially for portable models) are usually relatively easier to be installed.

Cost savings

If compared to the conventional forced-air heaters, they will be able to achieve & reach fuel savings around 50-30 percent more efficient. The high level of cost saving is influenced by some factors, such as the local climate (extreme or not), the design & technology of the radiant tube infrared heating unit itself, maintenance (it is important to keep the unit run efficiently), and so on.

What kind of area can be heated?

They are available in a wide range of size and in several models to accommodate different requirements. In many cases, they are practically enough to be used either for outdoors or indoors! There are available some models of them that can work properly in factories, outdoor restaurants, loading docks, gymnasiums, warehouses, air-craft hangers, etc. Furthermore, they are also welcome idea for de-icing & snow-melting!

Choosing the right type of home heating systems is important procedure to ensure your family keeps comfortable and warm throughout the winter season. We know well, heating and cooling activities consume high energy every year. The wrong choosing will bring bad effect to your finance or result unbelievable high energy bill use monthly! And this condition is one of the big reasons why many homeowners prioritize to choose heating system that capable work more efficiently and effectively. Today, we can find several popular fuels that are used by home heating systems such as natural gas, propane, electricity, oil, kerosene, wood, etc.

There are currently available many types of home heating system and the big question is “Which one is the best for you?” Surely, the answer is dependent on your preference and your requirement. The actual family’s member in your home is also important point that should be considered well. Example, don’t choose heater that can produce too many unfriendly particles when working such as forced air heater if we have somebody who has really bad allergies. Radiant heating models which don’t need air circulation mechanism are so recommended for this situation. Then if you prioritize about the efficiency performance, you can choose portable heater models to complement you existed central heating system. Portable units are superior with their spot heating feature. They can heat the air or object (directly or not), it usually depends on the technology mechanism design.

Below are some popular types of residential home heating systems:

Space heaters, they are popular to warm up small and medium rooms. Some popular types of them that currently available at this time are heating coil (using electrical mechanism), oil based (similar like radiator), modern halogen based (applying the light bulb technology) and ceramic space heaters. The standard sizes of them are start from 120 Volt power up to more than 1500 Watt. In addition, as possible choose units that come with UL listed to get the safety guarantee and not too difficultly installation.

Heat pumps, we can find them are available in three major types that are (1) WSHP or Water source heat pumps, (2) ASHP or Air source heat pumps that usually cheaper than others and (3) GSHP or Ground source heat pumps which usually also called as geothermal heating system. Generally, heat pumps are similar to refrigerator, but refrigerator usually will not compress the refrigerant gas to increase the temperature! ASHP models will result loud noise when working, therefore if you have a plan to purchase these units, better you consider the decibels value (choose 76 db or even lower to get more noiseless performance).

Radiant heat, as like written in the previous paragraph, they use radiant principle (infrared radiation) to produce the amount heat and transfer it all around the room. They can heat the object directly. One popular type of radiant heating concept is radiant floor heating system. It is consisted three popular types; (1) hydronic models (superior to heat medium and large rooms efficiently, environmentally and cheaply) or usually also called as liquid based heater, (2) electric radiant floors (they are relatively high cost particularly when we get the improperly installation will result high energy bill) and (3) air heated radiant floors (these models are also can be modified to be used with solar heater models).

Furnaces, most often furnaces usually use (blower and heat exchanger) and powered two dominated fuel types (electricity and gas). But usually furnaces are more popular used for industrial than for home hating system use. The speed of fans usually is one of the dominated factors that influence the speed performance when the unit working. As additional tip, as possible to choose unit that come with the variable speed fan feature.

Choosing the right size is also the important procedure to ensure your unit capable to work powerfully, optimally and efficiently. If you choose to buy a portable heater, this procedure is not too difficult. But other hand, if you have a plan to use non-portable unit like radiant floor heating system or other models which basically require the complicated installation then by hiring a qualified professional heating contractor is so recommended to ensure you will get the perfectly installation. Because we all are aware that the properly or improperly installation will contribute significantly to the performance of the unit when running.

We know well that wicks have important function for kerosene heaters therefore we cannot imagine that do they still can operate well without wicks! So we are much recommended to have some spare wicks for each kerosene heaters to through uncertain times of the long time winter season. With the proper use and proper maintenance, we can keep using kerosene heater wicks comfortably for heating and passing through the extreme winter season.

If human have heart as central organ to push the blood surround all the body then the heart of kerosene heater is the wick.

Today there have many brands of wicks and sometimes you may be confused to determine the best one that you have to choose. One of top popular brands is CUI (popular enough in the UK and Canada). This brand become famous because of their good quality product with relatively more affordable in price!

Kerosene heater is one of older heating system devices (conventional heating appliances) that still exist at this modern living. Many people say that they use the older technology to supply warm comfortable temperature in the winter. But as long as long we concern to the performance of the wicks, they will be nice solution for your reliable heating unit.

How often should you replace kerosene heater wicks?

The answer is dependent to the quality of the wick itself! But there are some recommendations to replace the wicks at least once a year (according to EPA and U.S Consumer Product Safety Commission). For lower quality, you may need to change them more often, but for average quality you may need to replace them at least once a year.

The wicks will be hardened over time!

They can be hardened in long run and this process can be faster if you adjust the height improperly that can cause improperly gasified. The other factor that can speed up this process is the bad quality of the kerosene fuel. Bad kerosene usually has more water contained and even will result too bad kerosene odor. On the other hand, good quality of kerosene usually has lower volume of water and almost odorless.

Hardening process of the wicks is usually a result of carbons collecting & unburnt tars (resulting crusting on the wick’s surface).

What else you should know?

Some people say that sometimes choosing the best one of wicks to meet to our specification kerosene heater wicks is not easy. One of frequently problems is the process on how to determine the size (the length and diameter of the wick)! You can read the owner’s manual instructions to find more detailed information about this issue.

Furthermore, you should know that the wrong adjustment of the height of the wicks is not only will lead to the hardening process but also can lead to the inefficiency performance of the unit.

Today, we can find a lot of choices for heating. One of those choices is radiant heaters! Although they cannot be categorized as eco-friendly technology as solar heating system, but generally they are also friendly to the environment and able to help the environment in many options. Radiant heating systems are designed to work more and more efficient, day by day. They consume less fuel that eventually will contribute to preserve the energy resources for the next generation. They work powerful enough to warm up the house without producing a lot of pollutant that can be a serious factor to cause acid rain. Although the initial cost for installation may be expensive for some people, but they are much better in long run, particularly if compared to the conventional air-forced heating systems. Furthermore, with a little advance design, they also can be combined with solar heating technology.

Are radiant heaters comfortable enough?

As the name suggests, their working principle is like sunshine (directly heating principle) that will make you and your family feel cozy and more comfortably in the cold days of heating season. The most popular type is radiant floor heating system. It heats the floor nicely to keep warm your feet and the entire body, and the air to breath is more refreshing and can be normal (a little cooler). The combination radiant energy and air temperature is maintained at ideal level (equal level for the body’s energy needs) so thus will bring the different sensation of warm-feelings and comfort. When we receive and get an amount of the energy of radiant, our body will be equally cozy at a lower air temperature!

Generally, the heating systems of radiant heaters are typically designed to heat the objects as well as when we are in the sunlight (especially in the morning) and you keep comfortable and cozy at a lower temperature of the air surrounding you.

The following are more reasons why radiant heaters (especially for radiant floor heating) are claimed more comfortable:

The system produce less dusts, bacteria, dirt or other unfriendly particles in the room (even we can say there is almost no dust when the heater running), so thus the air filter is not required and this is so beneficial if you or one of your family suffers from allergies (welcome idea for asthma medication). This is the key why they are one of popular choices if we seriously prioritize healthfulness!

The hot surface is not visible and therefore will be relatively safer for children or pets that can touch accidentally the hot surface of the heater.

Noiseless when working, because there are no fans or blower noise!

They don’t need more care for the maintenance, and will be reliable enough in long term.

Radiant heaters work more efficient

When using radiant heating systems, (according to ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers)) users will keep warm and comfortable at around 6-8 degrees Fahrenheit lower than conventional convective systems (like baseboard heating systems & forced-air heating systems). Even there are some experts who have opinion that they will be helpful enough to save around 25 percent of the heating costs. But the system must be designed and installed properly otherwise will not work powerful and efficient. Don’t only focus to the cost when choosing and installing the radiant heat system for your house! Make sure also to consider the quality of material, labor, and design! Don’t forget also to consider the follow-up service and guarantee!

The heat energy can travel from one location to another location with three ways; convection, conduction and radiation. Let’s concern to the last type! As well we know that there are a lot of heating appliances that use radiant heat principle, either to heat outdoor areas or indoor areas. Historically, there are some experts who have opinion that radiant heat technology had been used in the ancient civilization of China and Roman Empire. In ancient times, traditional radiant heating application is the emitting radiant heat through some warm elements, such as wall, floor, and overhead panel. Then by heat the air directly, all people around feel better of a warm condition temperature.

Based on the performance to heat the air quickly or not, radiant heating technology is better than convection heating. Today, we can find a lot of heating systems that use radiant heat principle, some of them are fired radiant heat technology, hydronic floor heating, electric under floor heating), radiant ceiling appliances, infrared heaters, portable space heaters, and so on. For outdoor use, the directly heating is also so beneficial. It will be so helpful to heat the objects directly without needing to heat the surrounding air first. Without radiant heating principle (directly heating principle), it is too hard to warm up the outdoor area, like patio because will be required a huge energy to warm up the entire air in the patio.

To encourage the efficiency, it is better to also install the insulation in your house. There are some people who have opinion that using the radiant heat technology is always will be more efficient. This statement is not always true, particularly if the design of the house is not match to radiant heat demand. So consider carefully the size BTUs output of the radiant heater that you want to choose and install also the insulation system if necessary.

As like mentioned before, radiant floor heating system is one of popular choices of integrated radiant system to warm up the entire house in the winter. It offers more comfortable performance, more efficient in energy use and also will be good investment in long term. Although there are some reviews on internet say that the installation can finished on your own, but it is much better to hire a qualified installer to make sure the system is installed properly. Below are pieces of helpful information for the installation:

You should do to training yourself. This idea will help you to learn more about how to make the system work properly at its efficiency performance and also be helpful for you to know lot of more about radiant heat technology.

Then the next step that you should do is to find and choose the right qualified installer. The qualified installer will help to ensure all mechanical components are installed as well so thus the system can work properly.

Some factors that you should concern as well are; the warranty of product, learn more which one component that can work well together, the capacity (size) and make sure the system that you want install is qualified with the authorized codes in your local area. And all those factors can be analyzed as well by hiring the right one of qualified installers.

Make sure to only choose a certified radiant contractor! And prioritize a local heating contractor! Visit the RPA’s membership to make sure the company that you want to choose is a certified contractor.

In the end of November and in the next few months, many people will largely depend on heating appliances to keep their body comfortable, either at workplace or at home. Therefore, it is so important to prepare your heating unit in order to make sure it keeps work properly and powerfully, especially if your unit is too old. Well, there are a lot of types of heaters, from one that use conventional heating technology to others that use more modern and eco-friendly heating technology. In this article, it is too wide-ranging to discuss all types of heaters. Let’s focus to one type of them that is radiant heating systems. As well as like the name implies, this type based on radiant heating principle to heat the air.

Since ancient Roman Empire, radiant heating systems were already starting to be used! And before the World War I, they became popular in UK. Today, they can be classified into several different types! Below are more of pieces of information about those types:

1. Electric radiant heaters: They have some similar basic elements as well as like hydronic radiant heaters. The difference is located to the element that has function to distribute the heat. I mean they use electric wires, not pipes (in the hydronic models). And as well as the name implies, they use electric energy as source power and therefore, there is no pollutant (Carbon Monoxide). This is the key why there are a lot of homeowners who believe this heater is safer than others. But along with the high price of electric energy, this type is decreasingly popular at this time.

2. Convection-radiant models: Like written before, by historians of Roman, the application of radiant heating method is already recorded. In this era, hypocaust was so familiar. It was the early baths, which through ceiling, walls, or flooring; the warm air was circulated. The heat energy was produced from traditional fire that was maintained by slaves. Then the heat was radiated to all sides. And in 1940-s, this concept began popular again. As well as like the name implies, it applies two main heat-transfer principle, thermal radiation & convection.

3. Hydronic radiant heating system! Like mentioned in the first point, it require pipes to distribute the heat. The pipes also have important function for the circulation of heated liquid. In line with technological progress, most of hydronic systems are now equipped with pipes that are designed with hybrid rubber. This concept was adapted at the first time by a lot of designers of different countries, such as (1959 – 1867) Frank Lloyd Wright (American-architect) and (1870 – 1954) Arthur Barker (British-scientist).

4. Eco-friendly solar radiant heating system! Like the name implies, this system uses solar panels to explore the sunlight as source energy. We can find several types of those panels, some of them are designed of absorbing ceramic tile or glass. In addition, today, the concept of radiant heaters that use solar panels is also adapted by other heating appliances, like ceramic heaters.

5. Last, radiant baseboard heaters! They were increasingly popular in the 1960s! The heating concept of them is based on a heating element that is hidden under a metal cover (along walls near the floor), at least two sides of the room. Baseboards usually become familiar selection for the installation as well as like the name implies! Unfortunately, there is high risk of fire accident by using this heater. Any items or stuffs, such as furniture & draperies, that are located near of baseboards can be so dangerous which can lead to fire accident. Therefore, today not of all cities or municipalities allow to use radiant baseboard heating appliances because of the fire hazard!

Along with the awareness of green living & the worries of global warming, eco-friendly technology is increasing popular at this time. And when it comes to home heating, why you don’t try to install and use home geothermal heating system. There are a lot of benefits that you can get, especially for energy saving in long term, either for your personal finance or for better life of the world! This technology uses eco-friendly energy from deep underground of the earth as well as like the nickname implies. The huge different temperature between the underground and the outside surface of the earth is the key of the work principle to heat or cool the air of your house.

But as well we know the installation of home geothermal heating system is not cheap, especially if we compare to other conventional heaters that use familiar fuels like gas or electric energy. This is the big downside that makes most people discouraged to install and use it. However there are more advantages than disadvantages. There are almost no reasons why you reject to choose and use it, particularly if your budget permits for the initial costs of the installation. It is one of nice answers if you are looking for home cooling and heating system that will be last longer and also will be good investment in long term. Furthermore, the air output either warm air or fresh cold air is relatively cleaner and better for human respiratory system. Even the geothermal system doesn’t need air filter that usually must be cleaned or replaced regularly in many regular heater/cooling appliances.

Overall, geothermal heat pumps are one of great alternative choices in the future that friendly to the environment. What else that you have to know about them, especially other related issues about the installation costs and the benefit of effective savings on energy bills?

1. Other pieces of basic information: They are real eco-friendly system that only requires few of fuel when working; even we can say there are no conventional fuels (coal, oil, electricity, gas, etc) for producing the heat energy. There is no any kind of combustion so thus no byproducts like carbon that can be harmful to the environment!

2. They are also powerful enough for cooling system during summer months. Therefore, it is not surprise if there are some people call them as ‘geothermal HVAC system’. Naturally, the temperature of deep underground of the earth is relatively much lower than the outside surface of the earth during summer season. And this condition is 180 degree different during winter season.

3. Drilling cost is usually something that can drain your pocket significantly. This cost could be around $15,000.- to $31,000.- or more. It is usually dependent on the type of the ground of your local area and the size of the system.

4. After considering the drilling costs, next is the cost for the system of the geothermal heat pump itself! It is usually around $2700 /ton of capacity! In many cases, mostly will be required around 3 tons for average larger home. So the cost for the system is around $8,100.-

5. Conclusion: For conventional electrical HVAC system can be purchased around $4,100.- . Geothermal system needs less costs of energy bill (20-30 %) than regular heating/ cooling systems. So, you will get your money back for around 11 to 14 years and in fact on average, you geothermal system lasts 21 – 26 years.

Solar heating system

The awareness to use eco-friendly or green house heating systems is becoming increasingly popular at this day. Their popularity is equivalent to the popularity of the global warming issue.

Eco-friendly system not only promise about saving energy but we can also participate directly to reduce the carbon air pollutant that finally so helpful to decrease and push down the global warming process.

Well, today there are some popular types of green house heating systems. The popular types of them that are currently available at this time basically depend on to the source energy that are; (1) air source heat pumps, (2) ground source heat pumps and (3) solar heaters. Which one is the best? The answer is surely dependent on your preference and the weather condition where you live. Each type is different in the way they heat the air and bring warm air into the room (different mechanism system and installation). Therefore each type also has special advantages that we probably we cannot find in the regular or conventional heaters. But overall all types are positive and friendly to the environment for the future of earth.

#Ground source heat pumps

Basically, they convert the heat energy from the ground. They are categorized into the radiant floor heating systems. The underground piping under the floor that contain water will be heated that finally will increase the temperature level of the room. They can make warm your body without need to heat all air in the room. They only heat the bottom air in the room and therefore they can work efficiently and effectively.

The ground source heat pumps can be combined with radiators not too difficultly. The installation that through pipes into the ground is complicated and it cannot be finished easily with DIY option. And it means you must contact and hire a professional heating contractor to ensure the properly installation (pay extra cost). This is single drawback of them. But the high cost for the installation is smart investment to save your money in the long term.

#Green solar heating systems

Solar panels heaters that have function to convert the sun energy to heat energy are used in these systems. Then the heat energy is utilized to heat the cylinder water. The problem is during the winter season the system cannot found and catch the sunlight energy optimally. Therefore, immersion heater or boiler is required as back up. In addition, there are available two popular types of them that are (1) evacuated solar heating panels and (2) flat solar heating panels.

#Air source heat pumps

They similar like ground source heat pumps but they get the energy from the outside air. This mechanism is their characteristic and become the major reason why they call as air source heat pump. The pump is designed as well that can work either as compressor or as refrigerator. Overall, they can be used for residential use and commercial purposes. They are really multifunction system that not only capable to work as space heating system but also as hot water heater at not-high cost (just need the electricity around 25 percent to 30 percent to operate them). In addition, they also can be operated in conjunction with other green house heating technology such as solar panel.
