Electric Vs Gas Fireplaces!

We all agree that the fireplace is also important for the interior of the house! Even the look of this appliance can influence the entire mood of your room! So it is not surprise if there are now also available more variety fireplaces that come with more variety choices of styles and shapes. But if we are talking about the energy bill, then efficiency and type of the fuel are usually two factors that dominate!

When it comes to fireplace selections, based on the fuel there are two popular types at this time that are one that uses electric energy as source power and other that uses gas as source energy. Which is the best one of both? The answer is dependent on your requirement. But either electric or gas fireplaces are essential home appliances for many people, particularly when coldest days of winter season come into your house. Some people say electric unit is safer than gas units. On other hand, when it comes to the energy bill that we must pay for each month, there is also an opinion that says gas models are more beneficial than electric models! So, what is the right type that you should choose?

# Gas fireplaces

Generally, gas fireplaces look more attractive. With the beauty look of an open flame, they will bring positive new look into the room decor. The price of the fuel itself is also relatively cheaper than the price tags of electricity! But there is also big issue of drawback that you have to concern carefully. Since they use gas as source power, then there must a lot of Carbon Monoxide that must be vented properly. This causes not all homeowners interest to use them. Not only that, the installation is more complicated and will spend more amount of money that you have to invest! Even there are several modifications to the room where will be used for the installation.

Furthermore, if the local area where you live is not available for gas pipeline transmission, your fireplaces might use a pressurized tank for the propane gas. In several cases, those pressurized tanks can be serious hazard that can generate serious fire accident fuel. Therefore, it is required more extra concern for the maintenance. Don’t also forget to check the Oxygen depletion sensor, make sure it is able to run properly before starting to turn on your gas fireplace! But overall, as long as you obey to the manufacturer’s instructions either for the proper maintenance and how to use the unit properly, gas fireplaces can be good investment in long term that can save a lot of money from high energy bill and also encourage the quality of the room interior!

# Electric fireplaces

Unlike gas models, electric fireplaces are more practically for the installation. Even in some cases, there may be not needed to make any modification for the installation. Although there is not the beauty look as well as like gas models, but they still can be used to encourage the quality of the decoration and also be able to create positive harmony to your family. Moreover, there is no Carbon Monoxide so thus you don’t have worry anymore about the serious poison hazard due to those CO gases. This is the key why they are assumed safer than gas models!

One major downside is the expensive cost that you must pay for the electric bill! Although the unit can covert the electric energy to the heat energy almost perfectly (almost 100 percent), but the price of the electricity is still something that can drain your pocket! Therefore, make sure they are turn off completely while not in use! And this issue can be minimized by choosing to use some types of them that are already equipped with a programmable thermostat!

Well… Both are heating appliances that are too difficult for DIY installation. It is better to hire a professional service for the installation. Don’t forget to check and do a research before making deal. You can use internet to get a lot of related information!
