Well if you are personal who likes to go to journey and travelers or also loves something of outdoor activities (like camping), then maybe now you are looking for the heater that can produce hot water instantly when you are far away from your home. One of popular options for this case is by using portable water heater. There are a lot of advantages when using this water heating appliance.

Today, there are many brands and models of portable water heaters to choose from. What are the most crucial points you should take into consideration when choosing? The answer is dependent on your personal requirement, but mostly you need to consider the size, the flow-rate performance, fuel-powered, the mechanism of installation (easy or not), portability, and so on. Some popular brands to choose can be Kenmore, Zodi, Coleman, Rheem, Honeywell, Lakewood, and still many more.

Advantages on using portable water heater

  1. As the name implies, mostly they are portable in design and users can move the unit easier from one place to another.
  2. You may find the ones that come with multifunctional ability in design, such as not only powerful for water heating but also can be used for cooking. But if you seriously to the better safety, it is better to avoid using multi-functioning unit for cooking.
  3. Easy to operate, and you don’t have to worry about a boring activity of seeking dry-wood for heating water in the morning. So you can make a glass of hot coffee in the morning more fun and easily as well as like in your home.
  4. Easy to be carried! They are typically lighter in weight and even you can find some that can be stored easily in your car.

Types

Generally, there are available two major types of portable water heaters; on-demand tankless model and conventional model with a storage-water-tank. Conventional units are less efficient because they still use a conventional storage-tank to store the heated water, this mechanism can lead to a lot of energy losses.

On the other hand, on-demand tankless water heaters are more efficient because they only heat the water when it is actually needed (only work on demand), therefore there is not needed a storage-tank to hold the heated water temporarily that can cause a lot of energy losses. Furthermore, the performance is also quick enough (only need around 5 seconds to heat water up to 100 degrees of Fahrenheit).

Fuels

And for the fuels can be propane, kerosene, oil-heated boiler, electric-powered, and so on. And if you want to get and use a unit that can work more powerful, it is better to avoid choosing electric-powered units but much more recommended to choose and use propane-powered portable water heaters (moreover propane-powered units also promise lower heating costs).

Don’t miss to the safety considerations! If you use combustion types (kerosene, oil, or propane), make sure the unit is properly vented! The venting system is so important to push out all unfriendly byproducts chemical properties from combustion process (especially for CO2 or CO) to the outside of your tent, so thus the poisoning problem will be minimized and prevented as well.
