Well, boiler is one of common additions for residential use that usually familiar and easily can be found in United States, Europe (especially United Kingdom), etc. It is so useful and one of the variety heating options that offers better value of efficiency performance during winter months (particularly if we compare to the conventional central heating concept). Not only that, it is also popular as multifunction system (can be modified to incorporate variety functions into one) and compatible.

The work mechanism of boilers usually cannot be separated with the burner or familiar called as boiler burner. It is heated through fuel. There are currently available various fuels that can supply it such as natural gas, propane, wood pellets, coal, etc. The heating up process in the burner will produce gasses that finally will be transferred into boiler. The next process is the water heating process within the boiler that finally will result and produce the amount hot water. The heat is designed to run constantly! Therefore the system doesn’t require a storage tank to hold the hot water that usually we see in the conventional water heater systems. Perhaps, it is the major reason why this system can be categorized as tank-less water heaters (it is just my personal opinion ha4x…).

In addition, basically boiler burners can be categorized in two popular models that are fire-tube and water-tube. Then some of them that are designed with single mud drum and single stream drum usually called as (O and D) type. On other hand, some of them that have double mud drums are usually called as the A type. The built-in lock out safety feature is usually already equipped in the modern boiler burner models at this day.

# Some the frequently problems:

1. The empty tank problem which usually it is the initiate indication that the machine will not run properly.
2. Bad performance burner’s filter. It will make the heating system cannot work optimally.
3. The boiler burner’s color is already changed to orange (the original color usually is blue). It is usually caused by a loosened problem.
4. 4. The system is not capable to reset.

# Some maintenance suggestions to keep the performance of boilers:

1. The heat transfer process is important factor that can influence the performance of the system (especially the efficiency issue). The buildup in the sections or tubes will make this process cannot run well. Therefore by removing the buildup once in a month is simply maintenance procedure that will bring great advantage either in the short term or in the long term.
2. Check the valves and filter regularly! Ensure them are not too dirty.
3. As like written before, check about the orange color condition! It is also can be caused air mixture or oil shortage problems.
4. Consider the belt motor then if you see it is worn then you have to replace it.
5. Better you also do the maintenance in the off season (summer or spring season)! Some simply maintenance procedures that you can be scheduled in this time period are by checking the other parts like refractory (usually in the combustion chamber),seams, goosenecks, rear, etc.

Well, the boiler’s maintenance is not easily as simply as like when you use a portable heater unit. If you are not familiar about it or you have adequate budget then better you sign a maintenance contract with a qualified heating contractor or boiler cleaning company in your local area!
