Protect Your Water Heater from Condensation!

One of tankless waterheaters

One of the frequently problems when using water heater is condensation. It indicates the unit cannot work properly that eventually you can get the satisfied service of getting adequate amount hot water for you and your family. It could be the serious problem, especially during winter months when the demand of hot water is at the peak position. The key principle to prevent the condensation is the sufficient space should be available between the temperature distribution and the flow of air. Theoretically, it is possible to be set but factually it is hardly to be realized since it is the ideal condition.

There are some methods to create that ideal scenario! But there are also some homeowners do the options that cannot work effectively such as by replacing the door which usually is already fitted to in-close the entire heater or by doing simple solution like just punch a pit through the wall to create ventilation system under the sink. On other hand if you want to get the effective and practical method then it will take a lot of money, time and even require more effort! So, perhaps you will give up and let your water heater remain in a damp situation.

If the cold air and water is poured into the tank then the condensation will begin to form. It is not surprise since the tank is associated to the hot coil. The condensation problem itself could be prevented by operating the hot water heater unit properly. The unit should be turn off to make the coil down after closing the water-inlet and you operate the unit completely. It is important procedure, particularly before adding new extra water, in order to let coil cool down and does not receive the electric power when tank is blank. This is simple idea but effective to prevent the frequently condensation problem. It is smart and effective solution as long as you don’t require a lot of amount hot water heater.

On other hand, if you need a lot of hot water like in the evening as well as like in the morning (once again especially during winter season). Better you should keep and close the inlet of valve up to the coils pull down completely for a few hours, before you operate the unit to produce a lot of hot water. This scenario is not too difficultly if you unit can heat the water quickly (around fifteen minutes to an hour) that usually is influenced by the size BTUs.

The last, maybe those simple methods cannot solve and prevent the condensation problem perfectly but these are much better alternative than run out with condensation all over place and run out with a damp heater that finally will make you to pay and hire professional men’s service to give the heavy maintenance to the unit.
