Perhaps we have already prepared their outside house with the right insulation to eliminate the wind, a thick curtain for the cover entrance and even we have elevated their house with cement for the ground. With a pet air conditioner, this design is great enough during spring and summer but will be not enough during autumn and summer. Therefore, it is better to also install a heater for the house of your dog in order to keep him fit, comfortable and healthy in extreme cold temperature of winter.

There are a lot of types of heaters to choose from! But you should know that wrong selection cannot afford comfort situation to your pet but on other hand can cause bad effect like fire accidents. Therefore it is so important to always consider the safety issue! Instances, space heaters are too bad choice for this case because they can lead to a fire hazard due to the small enclosed spaces of the small dog’s house. If you are looking for the safest solution then heating appliances that adopt radiant principle (radiant heaters) are better and more recommended. Well… when it comes to radiant heating system, today radiant floor heating models are increasingly popular. But unfortunately, there are a lot of homeowners who think this model is too expensive for a heater for the dog’s house, either for the costs of the installation or for the monthly energy bill.

However, the heater is the most essential appliance for your dog during winter. And fortunately, there are now available several heating products that are purposed for pets and even can be functioned for all-season outdoor utilization. And one of them is snowmelt mats that will be the most practical solution to keep warm the body of pets, including your dogs. They are friendly appliance that can be functioned for around the temperature of 80.6 – 98.6 Fahrenheit (safe for your pets) and usually come with the standard size around 35 inches for the length and 25 inches for the width. We can find and purchase them not too difficultly via home improvement stores in our local area or via online stores. In addition, one of popular products of snowmelt mats is Kennel mats.

Well…The following are extra tips on how to keep warm the inside of the dog’s house effectively:

1. First, choose and buy the right electric kennel mat or snowmelt mat! It is more advisable to choose mat that is relatively smaller the size of the dog’s house so thus you can locate it away from the entrance. This is helpful to keep the heat more effectively. Moreover the mat should lie flat and be able to avoid sliding. There are some heating mats that are already equipped with grommets to prevent sliding.

2. Prepare the right outlet and verify it as well. It is better to verify it within six feet of dog’s house. Take a look at an outdoor-safe extension cord to the connection and then make sure it is protected as well, particularly from moisture. But don’t forget to ensure first that your local building codes permit to use an extension cord.

3. Now, it is time to install the mat! You can place it on the floor, or install it on the wall so thus dog can lean to against (this idea is better for habitual chewers). If you locate the mat on the ground, it is better to locate it underneath the floor so thus can make you dog will not be able to contact with the mat directly.

4. The last, perhaps you worry that your dog is going to chew on the cord. For this case, you can try to make the cord be invisible by hiding it inside a PVC pipe.
