- Space Heaters
A conventional furnace can cost up to $1.85 per hour or more to operate. On the other hand modern space heaters costs less and can work more efficient than conventional furnaces. Most of space heating units are designed to cost only around 20 cents/ hour and this is good news for anyone who are looking for a heating unit that can more friendly to their pocket (will result lower energy bill). And even it can work more efficient with some simple steps. Global warming is a nightmare in the future, therefore any ideas that can contribute to reduce the progress of global warming should be appreciated.
Based on the fuel types, space heaters are commonly divided into two popular categories that are electric units and gas units. Nevertheless, there are also the others types to choose from, particularly such as; convection space heating units, kerosene space heaters, quartz units, etc. However, space heaters are available and offered in many different sizes, types and styles. For gas units, the venting mechanism is one of crucial issues that must be concerned carefully. On the other hand, electric models are relatively easier for the installation because there is not involved any venting requirement for the installation. Back to the topic, the following are helpful tips for you on how to use space heater wisely and how to save more money with it:
- It is better to use electric unit to heat small spaces. Optimize the function of thermostat to set the unit turned down low. Utilize also supplemental heat in any room where you need additional heat.
- It is also welcome idea and so recommended to use combustion-type heating units to warm larger areas. Choose to hire a professional man to install any units that need the venting requirements so that they are installed correctly. The proper installation of the venting mechanism is also important and closely associated to the efficiency performance of the heating system. Moreover, gas fuel is relatively cheaper than electricity at these days. They also will be helpful if you live in an area where the electricity rates are too high that can lead to the frequently on-off of electric current supply in your house (a certain time when you cannot turn on the electric space heaters).
- Use portable space heater to complement the existing central space heater system. Portable units are effective option to heat efficiently a room (especially small rooms) or a certain spot space of large room or warehouse without needing to heat the entire house or the entire building first.
- One of my recommendations is by also using a quartz infrared heater! It uses electricity energy as source power supply but it is not too hot to the touch. This means it is safe enough for you and your family (especially for your children or pets if they touch accidentally to the unit). Furthermore, it consumes less electricity energy and supported for up to 1,000 sq-ft.
- Look at the thermostat feature of your unit then set it down at least eight degrees at night. It’s much recommended to choose units that have programmable thermostat to allow you to set the desired warm temperature at a certain time.
- Avoid installing the venting system of your gas unit near the kitchen or another room that is categorized into utility room cool, because there are some home appliances like freezer or refrigerator that will consume higher energy if the ambient temperature of the room is too hot.
