Well some times we find for some the central heater units cannot work effectively when they use to heat some room such as a sun room. Some of them also result unfriendly noise the ears when running. So if you are looking for the heating device which can work noiseless and use with convection principally then the best answer is electric baseboard heaters and they ideal to use to heat for your house and for your office.

Basically they use electric as source power to result heat. Therefore many people agree and assume they are more safety because don’t result fumes. And most of them are capable ideal to heat for smaller room such bathroom, bedroom, etc. They available in many features that can be point plus to serve user more satisfied. One of the wonderful features of them is equipped by the emergency turn off sensor system if the temperature is so hot then finally can make electric baseboard heater keep running in the right safety position of heating.

Generally in baseboard heaters system, the cold air will back down towards to the heater with is forced by circulating the hot air which increase to the top of the room and this circulation running with convection principally. Then after the cold air near the heater is already heated then the hot air increase again to the top of the room and force the cold air circulate again go back down toward the heater. And this condition continue with circulate system while the baseboard heater running. This brilliant circulation also make the electric baseboard heaters why call as belong to the heaters which don’t produce fume that finally can give toxic vapor to our body.

Because of the electric baseboard heaters don’t use gas and oil as source power but use electric as source power then we don’t require to consider and to provide about good standard of the ventilation for circulation air. Most of them also have been already designed for to use to mouth in the wall. So it will helpful to minimize space if our room is not really large. This design is also to support why an electric baseboard heater is ideal and capable to use in smaller room. Rooms of office which usually available with private design then so are not too large and maybe for householders that usually face problem to make decision for the chilly room, then electric baseboard heaters are the best the best solution as the helpful functional heating device.

And we should know that the manufactures are already design electric baseboard heater’s components are no moving when we are using them in the maintenance. So we just require and make the dust keep away from the heater surely. The standard baseboard heaters particularly electric types usually have capability to heat area with range between 50 square feet until 100 square feet. Basically the baseboard heaters are available two types other in market.

Hydronic types, well it use hydronic system to result and spread the heat. And this type usually is more expensive because hydronic baseboard heaters equipped with anti-freeze solution feature and it is performed in immersion heating element.

Convection types and they consist of two models that are for residential purpose and for commercial purpose. The residential models usually look simpler and lighter with range size between 0.6 up to 2.1 meters. And other hand commercial baseboard heaters usually look more complicated and weightier with range size between 0.6 up to 3 meters. And theoretically electric baseboard heaters belong to convection types.

Portable types, usually people prefer to use them for moveable feature such want to go to for outdoor activity. Some people also would like to use them inside the room because of their simple installation and simple heating device with can heat object specifically and efficiently. Many of them also use electric as source power.

Some people say that the installation of electric baseboard heater is easily, but others also say it is difficult. Well below are some tips that must keep our mind when installing and maintenance during to use it.

Well as like written in the previous paragraph, we don’t require parts for new during the maintenance regularly. We just need to clean and make sure the parts keep out from the dust, especially for the coil must be cleaned regularly to make ensure completely it is free from the dust.

Then make ensure that there are not some stuff such as furniture close front of the heater because it will decrease the performance of the heater or even can result damage for some parts of the heater if continue in long time usage. Make sure that the front of the heater is free space minimal 1.5 meters.

And for the safety reason make ensure also to always keep out the easily burn materials such as draperies, blankets and others keep the distance from the heater at least two meters.

The following are pieces of helpful information to troubleshoot your baseboard heater (especially for direct-vent model) if it does not work properly:

You find the flame is too large

Check the performance of the valve. Poor performance of the valve can lead to defective operator section that finally can result improper flame. And if you feel valve is no longer to work properly, then you have to replace it.

Another possible cause is too large of burner orifice! Therefore, ask and discuss with a gas company in your local area to find the right orifice size.

Wrong size! Make sure the unit is sized correctly!

You find yellow flame

It may be caused by clogged burner ports! Take a look at the burners and remove them to check any obstructions in ports, orifices or throats! Clean them but avoid enlarging orifices or ports!

Then the area around of vent cap must be clear and make sure the vent is properly sealed! Because any obstructions around the vent cap can lead to improper flame igniting from your direct vent baseboard heaters, like yellow flame.

You smell gas odor

If you smell gas odor, it indicates that there is a gas leak! It can be dangerous and therefore must be repaired immediately! Don’t turn on the unit and don’t touch and use any phone and electric switch in your home! You have to call and contact an authorized gas supplier, but use a neighbor phone in order to avoid electric-activity in your home that can ignites the gas. If you cannot contact a qualified gas supplier in your local area, you can contact the fire department. Don’t forget to open all windows and doors to allow all gas run to the outside!

The ignition is too slow (delayed)

Check the pressure of gas supply. Make sure the gas supply is running properly. Low pressure can delay the gas supply and eventually will make the slow ignition.

Then check the position of the igniter. Wrong location will make the igniter can work improperly, therefore make sure it is correctly installed and positioned.

The unit fails to ignite!

There are a lot of factors that can lead to the failure of ignition! Some of them are:

Lower-sized orifice.

Improperly performance of pressure switch.

Improper wiring.

No gas supply (check the gas supply by opening all gas valves).

The thermostat is too low (set it higher).

Clogged in the burner orifice (clean but avoid enlarging).

Etc.

This problem can be caused by a simple factor, but sometimes caused by a more complex factor. If the unit still cannot ignite, contact a professional service for more detailed troubleshooting information.

The burner cannot turn off

This can be caused by improper performance of thermostat, especially due to the damaged thermostat wire! You can check this issue by removing the wire from the terminal of control board and if you see that the burner goes off then you have to replace the thermostat.

Improper location of the thermostat also can cause the burner will not turn off! Make sure the location is not in the cold or hot spots.

Make sure there is no defective valve!

And check the gas pressure; make sure it is not too strong. You can ask to utility supplying gas!

The unit cannot work powerful (there is no enough heat)

Wrong size of furnace (lower size). So make sure the furnace is properly sized. A baseboard heater that is installed in the too larger area will make the unit run not-powerful.

The temperature setting is too low. Raise it in order to generate more heat into the room.

Lower supply pressure! Check the supply pressure!

There is too much heat

Wrong size of furnace (over size)!

You set temperature setting at too high level.

Or the combination control valve does not work properly (stuck open)! If you feel this is the main reason why there is too much heat, then you have to replace it!

There is too loud noise when the unit running

This problem can be caused by wrong installation for some components of the unit.

Make sure the wall and the floor are square! Your direct-vent baseboard heater must be installed plumb.

The vent tube is installed too tightly in draft inducer (over-tightened).

And check also the performance of draft inducer! Make sure it is not defective!

One of kind the baseboard heaters are built in with electrical-powered design. Electric baseboard heaters can help you to get warm in the winter. As well as we know, when winter comes then we must to keep our body be warm. And this is so important especially for people who spend a lot time at home such as older people and baby or small children. Today, there are a lot of choices to heating the air, but why you should choose and install baseboard heaters? Moreover, how to give the proper maintenance safely? Let’s explore more this issue, especially about pieces of helpful information for the installation and maintenance!

As the name suggests, they are supported & powered by electric energy. The working principal of an electric baseboard heater is similar with other regular space heaters, but there are some different working principles. As well we know there are 3 different ways to distribute the heat energy; radiant, conduction & convection. And they heat and warm up the air with the convection method! And therefore, they will work relatively noiseless. This is the key why there are a lot of people choose them to be used and installed in the rooms that need calmness, like office room, bedroom, and so on. Like mentioned before, there are several types of them to choose from!

Types of baseboard heaters

Based on the fuel, there are 2 major different types; electric and gas models.

Next are units for commercial purposes. This type is usually gas model.

The other type is designed to be moved easier or usually familiar called as portable units.

Then units for residential use. This type is usually smaller in power heating capacity than the size of commercial baseboard heaters. Residential units can be electric model or gas model.

The last is hydronic system that can work more powerful, even can be used to heat the entire house. It is also great idea for anti-freeze solution. But you need more money for the up-front costs for the first installation of this type.

Etc.

Safety checklists for the installation & maintenance

The following are some helpful & safely checklists on how to install-operate- and -maintain baseboard heaters safely (especially for direct-vent gas units):

First, always keep in mind that improper adjustment, maintenance and installation can cause serious risks, like property damage, injury and even loss of life.

Avoid installing the unit in the recreational vehicle, especially for direct-vent baseboard heaters.

If there is a gas leak, don’t ever try to utilize a match flame, candle or other sources that can ignite the fire. But only involve a liquid detergent or soapy water to detect any gas leaks!

Choose the location for the installation that far away from foot traffic otherwise the high temperature of the heater when running can lead to a serious fatal accident to anyone who accidentally touches the unit. And locate the unit as centrally as possible in the room or area that will be heated in order to encourage the better efficiency performance of the heating system.

After installing the unit, check once again and make sure all components are properly installed.

Avoid placing any flammable materials (or any objects that can to burn easily) to close to your baseboard heater!

Especially for direct-vent gas unit, without a proper burner sight glass, don’t ever try to turn on the unit!

Don’t ever try to connect a direct-vent gas unit to a chimney flue! And shut off the gas supply immediately if you find the rising water that accidentally enters to the unit. And if you want to use a programmable thermostat, it is much better to only use a wireless thermostat for better safety.

For the installation in the garage, make sure the unit is protected and positioned properly so thus it will not be a subject to damage by an accidentally moving of your vehicles! Moreover, avoid opening or closing containers of gasoline, paint and other liquid materials presenting flammable vapors to be used or stored in the same location as your heater!

If you in doubt to install the unit on your own, you must choose to hire a qualified & professional installer to make sure the unit is well installed.
